Fetterman and Oz Trade Blows in Highly Anticipated Debate

In what some are calling the first real face-off of the Fetterman-Oz primary, Jack Fetterman faced off against State Senator James Oz in what’s being called a spirited debate and the night’s most talked-about moment. Both candidates have been working hard to show that they can work in bipartisan fashion to make Washington work, but it was clear from their stances on environmental issues, health care, and immigration that they do not agree on everything. On several occasions, the candidates even found themselves yelling over one another.

Fetterman Attacks

Fetterman wasted no time jumping on one of Oz’s biggest weaknesses—her personal wealth. Do you know how many teachers it would take to make what is behind me? Fetterman asked, gesturing towards a 10-foot-high pile of cash (the exact amount being $42.7 million, according to multiple sources). I do, because I used to be a teacher.

Oz Responds

In a heated back-and-forth exchange, underdog Fetterman was finally able to provide some sort of solid argument against his opponent’s campaign. During a debate held earlier today at Penn State Harrisburg, mayoral candidate John Fetterman responded to one of Steve Oz’s popular talking points: This city doesn’t need more white liberals like me telling it what to do.

Fetterman Defends

Fetterman’s debate performance began with a strong response to assertions that he has not been participating in council sessions. Unlike our opponent, I don’t treat public service as a part-time gig, he said. When people elected me they knew exactly what they were getting: a man who would fight tooth and nail for his district.

The Audience Speaks Out

The debate quickly took a sour turn, with both candidates exchanging barbs. Candidate Oz accused opponent Fetterman of lying through his teeth about his record as Mayor of Braddock. I have been very transparent about my work in Braddock and I have never claimed to have brought Braddock back from near-ruin.
