Part of Santa Cruz Wharf Collapses Amid High Surf, Two People Rescued

Their message highlighted the severity of the situation, cautioning people to stay far away from the water. “A portion of the Santa Cruz Pier has collapsed and is floating away,” the post read. “Look at the ominous wave action on the horizon. You are risking your life and those of the people who would need to try and save you by getting in or too close to the water.”

Rescue Operations Underway

Emergency responders were quickly on the scene. The Santa Cruz Fire Department confirmed that two people were pulled from the water by lifeguards after the collapse. A third person, fortunately, managed to make it out of the surf without assistance. Members of the Santa Cruz Police Department were also present, providing support during the rescue efforts.
